:: Juvenile Detention Center Ministries
Breakaway staff and trained volunteers provide
outreach services for kids locked up in youth detention
facilities, jails, and youthful offender prisons. Most of
the kids who attend these services hear the Gospel for the
very first time while they are incarcerated. Athletes, youth
workers, and volunteers also participate in sports outreaches
within juvenile detention facilities for the purpose of
building relationships with youths and then the Gospel is
clearly presented at the conclusion of each event.

:: Aftercare Ministries
Aftercare ministries are provided for kids being
released from detention centers or commitment programs and are going
back into their communities. These programs include summer camp
scholarships, wilderness adventure trips, missions projects, and
youth retreats. Breakaway also offers mentoring relationships and
assistance with their education and employment skills.
:: Adventure Camps for At-Risk Youth
Breakaway coordinates summer adventure camps for
at-risk youth between the ages of 8-14. Using challenges
such as kayaking, whitewater rafting, hiking, and other
wilderness elements, the camp serves to increase children's
resiliency characteristics, spiritual development, self-confidence,
social skills, and many other outcomes while communicating
the Gospel.

:: Video Productions
Breakaway produces cutting edge video resources
featuring core sports, testimonies of Christian athletes, and cross-cultural
Christian music artists, to bring a message of hope to this generation.
These productions are customized to reach various cultures and subcultures
with the Gospel and are used in over 200 juvenile facilities around
the country.
:: Pen Pal Correspondence and Publications
Breakaway develops discipleship curriculum/devotionals/magazines
that help youth offenders study the Bible on his/her level and offers
correspondence opportunities for incarcerated youths to participate
in a pen pal program by corresponding with mature Christians outside
of the facility through mail.
:: Ministry to the Families of Incarcerated
Youths
A great deal of juvenile delinquency can be traced
back to a dysfunctional situation in the home of the youth offender.
Our vision is not only for the youth offender to encounter the life-changing
power of the Gospel, but also for their families to have similar
encounters. Breakaway networks with local churches to provide strategies
for reaching the families of youth offenders in their communities
(i.e.; holiday outreaches).
:: Workshops and Training Events
Breakaway provides juvenile justice ministry
training events and resource workshops to help mobilize
and equip communities for reaching troubled youth in their
area. These workshops are generally held in conjunction
with our regional evangelism crusades, providing a relevant
model for local volunteers to get involved with evangelizing
and discipling juvenile offenders. More
on training and resource workshops...
:: Ministry Resources and Publications
Breakaway is continually developing various multimedia
resources that are specifically designed to help volunteers reach
incarcerated teens. These resources include video productions that
are target-specific for juvenile offenders, CD-Rom resources, PowerPoint
tools for use in chapel services, as well as other outreach tools.
