Core Values
1. God Loves Them, So Should We
We believe that God loves and places value on every youth and that
He calls us to do the same. We believe that every young person deserves
the opportunity to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ regardless of
their background, delinquency, or disadvantages. Every youth should
have the opportunity to discover and to grow in God's purpose. Young
people need advocates to stand behind them and help them grow in
a relationship with Christ.
2. Relationally Focused
Though we may use the word "program" to refer to an outreach, service,
or facility that our ministry operates in, our emphasis is more
on relationships. We believe that programs alone are not what troubled
youth need. At-risk youth need caring adults (advocates), exemplifying
the love of Christ. Programs last for a season but relationships
last a lifetime.
3. The Gospel Cannot Be Compromised!
Breakaway is a Bible-believing ministry that communicates the unadulterated
Word of God in every institution we operate in. We have never toned
down the language of the Bible to be non-offensive in order to get
doors opened, and God has blessed this ministry as a result. We
have never diminished the power of the Gospel by "watering" down
it's message of sinful humanity and a redeeming Savior, and by the
grace of God never will. We may use different packages to deliver
the product (i.e.; sports, video presentations, music, etc.) but
the product itself remains the same. See our Statement of Faith...
4. Prayer Is The Life-line
Every aspect of this ministry is prayer-centered. We believe that
prayer, not programs, is the driving force behind any permanent
change in the lives of kids and families we work with. Our prayer
network is the most significant and urgent part of this ministry.
6. We Need The Local Church... So
Do These Kids!
Jesus told his disciples that they would be the light of the world
and the salt of the earth (the social, moral, and spiritual force
of preservation). He didn't give that charge to the local or state
government, but to the church. We act as a liaison between local
churches and juvenile offender facilities. We provide opportunities
for local churches to minister to youth offenders, and we provide
released youth offenders with the opportunities to get involved
with the local church. Breakaway also provides strategies for churches
to reach out to the families of youth offenders. See more on training
workshops...
7. Kingdom Building, Not Organization Building
We believe that networking with other ministries will enable God's
work to be more fruitful, and that many more lost souls can be reached
with the Gospel. Therefore, we seek and initiate alliances, networks,
and collaborations with other ministries for the sake of furthering
the message of Jesus Christ to a lost and dying world. We are more
concerned with getting the Gospel to the lost, than who gets the
credit for it. It's about Jesus, not whose building the next "Christian
Empire."
8. God Will Provide
We believe that God's work done God's way will never lack God's
supply. God's plans are also much bigger than our agenda or budget.
If we are certain of God's leadership in any area, we step out in
faith without reserve, knowing that He will provide. Though all
of our funding comes from the hands of God, we also realize that
God's people serve as those hands (we are the Body of Christ). Therefore,
we share our vision with churches and individuals, make our needs
known, and trust God to touch hearts to give to the need.
