Breakaway Outreach is a faith-based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to reaching kids in crisis through creative youth intervention, juvenile detention center ministries, adventure camps for at-risk youth, culturally relevant media resources, and innovative sports outreaches.

Our MISSION is to help kids Breakaway from a troubled past by communicating the life-changing message of Jesus Christ.

Our VISION is that every juvenile offender, and young person at-risk for delinquency, has the opportunity to hear and respond to the life-changing message of Jesus Christ, and that they be afforded resources to grow in a relationship with God.

We partner with local churches across the country to minister to America's most discarded young people, and their families.

Breakaway Outreach was founded by Jimmy and Cindy Larche.

In 1987, Jimmy had a life-changing experience in a juvenile detention center when he was 16-years-old. He later dedicated his life to helping troubled youth find a way out of their waywardness.

Jimmy and Cindy's passion is to see hurting kids experience hope through a genuine encounter with Christ. We express that hope through a myriad of culturally diverse outreach programs, using arts, film, media, sports, music, and more – to bring the Gospel to juvenile offenders and other kids in crisis.

The Breakaway Xperience (BX) outreach events are "high-energy" evangelistic events held in juvenile facilities throughout the nation and serve as "kick-off" campaigns for ongoing discipleship and mentoring programs in each facility. These events typically consist of sports outreaches (extreme sports demos, basketball trick shows, testimonies from professional Christian athletes, etc.), concerts featuring Christian artists, media presentations, and drama productions.

By law these services are voluntary for incarcerated youths to attend, yet we are seeing on an average more than 90% of the youths in each facility attending our services during a Breakaway Xperience event.

In conjunction with the events, Breakaway offers juvenile justice ministry training workshops to mobilize communities, train volunteers, and equip local churches to initiate discipleship programs in juvenile centers. We not only provide a working model for those who aspire to mentor imprisoned youth, but also a holistic approach to helping released offenders discover areas to serve in their communities upon being released from correctional facilities.

Breakaway TV is the media division of Breakaway Outreach, producing video resources geared specifically for "hard-to-reach" youth by speaking to them in their media savvy language through action sports, music videos, artist interviews, and short films, all portraying God's story through a medium they can understand. These productions are being used in over 350 juvenile facilities around the country.

Breakaway also initiated the National Network of Juvenile Justice Ministries; a growing alliance of like-minded ministries, organizations, and volunteers who are sharing resources, strategies, aftercare solutions, and other valuable helps in reaching incarcerated youth.

Understanding that our vision to reach every juvenile offender with the Gospel is bigger than any one organization or church, we value “Kingdom-building” rather than “organization-building”.

All too often, ministry to at-risk teenagers is the most neglected and overlooked area of outreach/missions by the local church. Our hope is that we will begin to see a shift in that unfortunate trend.
